Weststar Aviation Services KBR Base Co-hosts Helicopter Landing Training at Offshore

23rd February 2024 – Weststar Aviation Services KBR Base is proud to announce its collaboration with the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) air wing in co-hosting the Helicopter Landing Training at Offshore (HLTOF). This initiative, sponsored by Petronas as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, underscores our collective commitment to enhancing safety and proficiency in offshore helicopter operations.

RMAF, MMEA, and industry partners have joined forces to create HLTOF, which is designed to give helicopter pilots undertaking offshore missions the necessary training. Petronas chose Hess to be the host for this year’s training, a move that reflects the company’s commitment to advancing quality and safety in the oil and gas sector through its subsidiary Petronas MPM.

On February 23 and 24, 2024, RMAF’s EC725 and MMEA’s AW139 aircraft will undertake day deck landing operations at the Hess CPP BRG area as part of the training. The training will leave from Weststar Aviation Services’ Kota Bharu Helibase Base (KBR), underscoring the base’s strategic significance in supporting essential training programs.

Representatives from Petronas MPM, Hess, RMAF, MMEA, Malaysian Navy, and Weststar Aviation Services KBR Base convened for a coordination meeting on February 14, 2024. A thorough safety briefing on helicopter operations was given by Captain Mohd Adnan Yakub, BFSO, to make sure everyone was ready for the training. To further improve their knowledge and abilities, participants were briefed on Airborne Radar Approach (ARA) by Captain Harith Abdul Aziz, Senior Training Captain KBR. As we continue to collaborate with industry partners and government agencies, we reaffirm our dedication to enhancing the capabilities of our workforce and contributing to the advancement of the aviation industry in Malaysia.
